About Ron

After graduating from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Wiitala worked as an engineer and quickly moved into managerial positions with several Fortune 500 companies. His responsibilities included first-line management, project engineering, departmental management, and developing and controlling annual budgets of over $20 million.

In 2002, Mr. Wiitala became an Insurance Advisor, passing the State of Florida, Life, Health, and Variable Annuities exam. Since then, he has been providing his clients with guidance and financial solutions using a variety of tools, including life insurance, disability insurance and annuities.

Mr. Wiitala has also completed long-term care partnership training, allowing him to help his clients with long-term care planning, and certifies for Medicare Advantage plans, Part D plans, and Medicare supplements for his clients that are 65 and over. In order to help his clients, maximize their tax advantaged Social Security benefits, Mr. Wiitala offers Social Security Timing Seminars.

Although insurance is a vital part of Financial Planning, Mr. Wiitala wanted to increase the number of tools that he could offer to clients. To accomplish this, Mr. Wiitala passed his Investment Advisor Representative exam (Series 65) in July 2013 and joined Global Financial Management. In May 2015, Mr. Wiitala transitioned to Horter Investment Management.

Mr. Wiitala believes a well-defined financial plan may protect a client's assets for both their own use and their heirs, thereby creating the possibility of turning dreams into reality.

When he is not working, Mr. Wiitala enjoys fishing for grouper, red fish, trout, and whatever else is biting in the inner coastal waters of Florida's Gulf Coast, while enjoying a glass of wine. He also enjoys golfing at the Herron Creek Golf and Country Club in North Port, Florida.  Whenever possible, he travels to his home state of Michigan, and loves spending time with his wife and 5 daughters and 5 grandchildren.

December2018: Exciting news! An announcement from Ron Wiitala

Although I’m an independent financial advisor with an insurance and securities license, I am required by security regulations to be supervised by a Registered Investment Advisor, ensuring that I’m meeting my obligations as well as my fiduciary standards. This firm is also responsible for providing me access to the investment options. It is my privilege to announce that as of September 2018, I have established a new affiliation with Virtue Capital Management as my Registered Investment Advisor. Virtue Capital Management will provide me and my clients with what I consider world class money managers, excellent customer support, and the technology needed for an always changing economy.

Virtue Capital Management offers unique portfolios for their advisors to implement in their financial planning strategies.  These portfolios include three stop loss models, as well as several other unique strategies. It is in my opinion that aligning with Virtue Capital Management will provide us with reliable due diligence and superior investment strategies to fulfill the risk-reward profile that I am seeking for you. TD Ameritrade will be the custodian of your investments.

I am excited to meet with you and discuss in further detail what this means for you and why I believe this transition is going to have a positive impact for my clients.  This decision has taken significant time and research, but my greatest motivation has been a commitment that I made long ago: I will always put my clients’ best interests first. My primary purpose is to continue to do what I think is best for you, and I believe that this transition will equip me to do that even better in the future.

I look forward to working with you
